I have had as much practice with western painting methods and materials as with Chinese ones and have studied both histories with great attention, spending months in the main museum of both cultures.

I strive to poetry (wordless) while seeking dynamic balance. I aspire to innocence. And then, there is the pure joy of painting.

I have always preferred paper as a support. Pigments react directly with paper and both become one. Nimus Dilasso

Nature, landscape, and macro flower photography have been the main focus of my work since I first started taking photographs while working in Jasper National Park as a student. Having grown up in Alberta where fall colours are muted, I was overwhelmed by the fall colours I first experienced in the Eastern Townships of Quebec in 1970; these are still one of my favourite subjects. I also enjoy taking urban landscapes and architectural detail when I have the opportunity. Although for years I was a “Kodachrome” fan and later learned to develop and print B&W silver prints, I now work from digital camera files and appreciate the flexibility of being able to choose to process my images in B&W or colour, or both. More rarely I will also use filters and other techniques to transform an image into an abstract or photo art image. Although not a professional photographer, I have been selling cards and prints of my work locally for a number of years and exhibit my work when possible. f noel photography

I am an emerging Canadian Artist, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Like many artists, I am searching for the “way,” which is ever-changing, and ever-adapting. As a result, my artistic thoughts and vision have to adapt and change as well. I have learned to set goals for myself which are attainable instead of unreachable. We would all love to be Monet or Matisse but one does not get there overnight, so I take delight in the path I have set for myself, one I hope leads to bigger and better places.

My trees, cityscapes and landscape paintings reflect a simpler time, when natural beauty was still the focus of our lives. It is my since desire that my paintings take people back to that special place in time, allowing them to make a connection with my art that is uniquely their own.

Painting for me is visual poetry. It expresses what is in my soul. My artwork is a continuance of my creative life’s journey as I pursue an evolutionary life path. As I evolve, so does my art. I paint exclusively with acrylics, using bold brush strokes, palette knives, and vivid colors. There are several layers of glazes separated by mediums to enhance the perception of depth in the paintings.

My abstract art all comes intuitively. I am inspired by things I love. Lastly, all of the abstracts are contained in the beholders of these interests — people — their emotions, shapes, gestures, and expressions.

Painting is a passion for me, and it is a major part of my life. I am a self-taught artist, and learn more techniques with every passing year. I love to paint landscapes, nudes, flowers, street scenes, seascapes, pastoral and abstract art. It’s a matter of both left brain and right brain being in perfect balance that makes me complete. Lisa Cripps, Canadian Contemporary Artist

Although I never made a conscious decision to be an animal artist, every time I sat down to start a new painting I was always drawn to portray animals – I think they chose me, not the over way around.

I develop my paintings from taking my own photographs and travel North America to find new subjects to paint. I spend time researching the animal and finding out its characteristics. Often I come across a unique trait that will inspire a painting, and then I go about obtaining all the specific reference I need to complete the piece.

My journey through painting is a constant learning process, adding to and building my knowledge by exploring new techniques. I try to raise the bar on each new painting but want the focus to be on the character of the animal rather than the anatomical details.

One of the strengths of wildlife art is its ability to tell a wide variety of stories. In my paintings I try to bring out the individuality of each animal by capturing it’s essence as it goes about its everyday life. I portray many endangered species, hoping that bringing these animals to life in my art will promote awareness of their plight. A supporter of World Wildlife Fund, I hope to in some way, give back to the wonderful animals that I portray.

I was born in Kent, England. I moved to Edmonton, Alberta with my family in 1981 and have lived in Leduc since 1990.

Although I first tried painting in England when I was 16, it was not until 1994 that I began to paint seriously. I was immediately drawn to wildlife painting and especially to North American animals. My style is realism and I work predominantly in acrylics and oils, using the strengths of each to bring my paintings to life.

I develop my paintings from taking my own photographs, and spend large amounts of time researching the animals I paint. I enjoy travelling North America to find new subjects to paint. Patricia M. Mansell, Wildlife Artist

Ao Li was born in Hunan Province. Ever since she was a young girl, she loved to paint and draw. She always knew that she wanted to be an artist. In 2002 she left her job in the insurance office, enrolled at Hangzou University, Zhong Guo Mei Artist School and began studying drawing and oil painting full time.

Your work represents yourself, you are very hopeful.” Sorrowfully, Mr Chen passed away because of long times spent in tiring hard work. Ao was deeply saddened at losing the great teacher. Later, Mr Chen’s younger brother, Mr Chen Yiming, the well known oil painting master who has worked in New York, stretched out warm hands and received Ao as his student. My first exposure to photography was during my early teen years in Saskatchewan. My father gave me a Brownie camera and I was fascinated by the images that I could capture on film. A passion for photography was born! I moved to the Fraser Valley nearly 30 years ago and have continued honing my photogtraphy skills and learning new techniques. I am a perfectionist when it comes to photography and hold myself to high standards.

As a nature lover, I am in my element living in the beautiful Fraser Valley. There are endless opportunities to photograph local flora and fauna as well as scenic vistas and panoramic landscapes. One of my favourite images is to capture the silky flow of a waterfall or stream. A walk in the woods always fires my imagination.

In addition to photography my other passion is travel. I am an avid traveller and enjoy learning about other countries and cultures. Photographs allow me to share my impressions of the world with others.

Turning a passion into a career has been a dream come true. Thank you for visiting my web site and purchasing any images. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Enjoy!
