***: The elk, also known as wapiti, is one of the largest species within the deer family, Cervidae, and is native to North America and parts of Eastern Asia. Characterized by their impressive antlers that can grow up to four feet above their head, making them as tall as nine feet in total, elk are notable for their size, strength, and agility. These herbivores primarily feed on grasses, plants, leaves, and bark. During the mating season, known as the rut, male elk are known for their loud vocalizations, called bugling, which can be heard for miles and serves both to attract females and challenge other males.
